Piab, which has long served the 3D printing market with its piFLOW®p vacuum conveyors, is now proud to introduce the first vacuum conveyor developed specifically for additive manufacturing – piFLOW®am, which is now available for integration into OEM systems.

PiFLOW®am is a small vacuum conveyor designed based on OEM requirements in the additive manufacturing segment. The small and compact design incorporates Piab’s patented and highly efficient COAX® vacuum technology as well as a throttle valve. The throttle valve is insensitive to pressure fluctuations and is able to hold the material batch inside without a pump installed. It has a standard TC connection, which simplifies integration for the customer. The unit is simple to use and can be easily integrated with any type or brand of 3D printer, screen, hopper and other intermediate container. The product is controlled by pneumatic or electric control units.

Piab vacuum conveying technology can be used to solve many different problems related to additive manufacturing. It is the perfect technology for loading the printer with metal powders, retrieving/cleaning excess material from printers and post-production, and filling or emptying metal powders from/to adjacent equipment such as a sieve or powder container.
PiFLOW®am is made of stainless steel and can withstand material temperatures up to 60°C [140°F]. The conveyor unit weighs 15 kg [33 lbs] and has a maximum feed pressure of 0.7 MPa [101.5 psi].
